Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): To ensure peaceful conduct of the ensuing state assembly elections, Kuda Village Council (KVC) has prohibited setting up of camps, posters and banners, flags, and show of strength within the village jurisdiction.
The decision to this effect was taken during the council executive meeting held on February 14 in pursuing to the call of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) for a clean and peaceful conduct of election.
A joint press release issued by the council chairman and the Head GB stated that no campaign or canvassing would be entertained by colonies except a platform speech at Kuda village council Hall as and when requested by any candidate.
It also resolved that no declaration should be made to support any candidate by any individual, group, society, organisation within its jurisdiction. The council has encourage its voters to exercise their adult franchise judiciously only to candidates who demonstrate genuine commitment to the cause of Naga people in general and welfare of the village in particular.
It also resolved that no individual, group, society, organisation should approach any candidate or agent for financial or material assistance till polling is over. It stated that the principle of “One man, One vote” should be followed and only genuine voters would be allowed to vote. It further resolved that supply of alcohol and any other intoxicants would be restricted within the village.
