Dimapur, Dec.8: KudavIllage Council has served representation to Chief Engineer of Road & Bridges department, reminding about the deplorable condition of Kuda village road, which has been causing severe hardships to villagers and commuters alike since past several years.
Owing to inaction and neglect by concerned department since several years, Kuda Village Council chairman, AchubuMeruno, said the villagers were compelled to mobilize their own funds to repair the road. He stated that the villagers have repaired the road in 2011, with amount of Rs. 5.0 lac, 2012 and 2014 with 4.0 lac and 14.0 lac respectively. The repair work was done with the contribution from organizations and individuals who voluntarily contributed a couple of times to prop up the collapsing road.KVC said “in recent times, the ugly state of affairs with the roads have peaked in such a way that it took no less an authority than a Governor of the state to blow thewhistle in the media repeatedly”.
The council requested the concerned department to expedite the repair of the said road which will also be a boon to Kuda villagers on the verge ofcelebrating their Platinum Jubilee on 17 December 2016.
It also mentioned that certain gravels and earth have been unloaded in sporadic locations in the last 2 to 3 weeks, but with no evidenceof any massive exercise that calls for a road in such a punishing state.
In this connection, on repeated enquiry from concerned authorities as late as December evening, it is reliably learnt that neither tender was floated for the said work nor work order issued till date to any entity for the job which raises doubts on the veracity of the department, stated KVC.
Further, KVC reiterate that the road be repaired in right earnest under transparent conduct andenable the village and public to avail its Citizen’s Right to good roads and helprecover its duessacrificed on behalf of the department, so as to avoid any local recourse forredressal of grievances in future.
