- DIMAPUR — Kuda
Village B Khel Council (KVBKC) has expressed outrage at the relentless dumping
of garbage in its area on the Dhansiri Kuda Bridge by unknown miscreant inspite
of repeated warnings and billboards notifications strictly prohibiting dumping
of garbage.
- It stated that the youth, in recent time, apprehended some
culprits and reprimanded/ fined them as penalty. It was traced that people
residing far away from Kuda village have been dumping their waste and garbage
surreptitiously on regular basis, the modus operandi being to throw them out
from moving cars while driving past the bridge during dawn or late night when
the spot is virtually deserted.
- It mentioned that garbage has piled up again to present an
ugly sight to public commuting the bridge every day. The council observed that
culprits have not paid heed to repeated warnings. It has termed the regular
piling of garbage as a manifestation of intentional violation and provocation
to civic appeal.
- The council has directed the village youth organisation
(KBYO) to maintain daily activity so as to prevent and deter unscrupulous
miscreant from dirtying the bridge and to apprehend anyone found violating
dumping of garbage.
- It warned that any person caught or traced violating
prohibition of garbage throwing at the bridge would be severely fined as
deterrent penalty. It added that such fines of INR 5000 would be used to defray
the costs of clearing and keeping the spot clean and free from garbage.
- The council, therefore, appealed to all concerned not to
dump garbage along the bridge ends or anywhere not specified as garbage site,
failing which culprits would be liable to be fined or publicly exposed through
social media for awareness.
- Meanwhile, the council has also strongly condemned the
criminal heist of the SBI ATM at Kuda B jurisdiction on February 20.
- It expressed dismay as there has not been any report of
recovery of the stolen INR 25 lakh nor arrest of culprits till date inspite of
substantial evidence available to trace culprits.
- It appealed to law enforcement agency to highlight the
progress publicly and not to show leniency or be slack in investigation which
would embolden criminals to repeat their crime against society. The council
further assured the authorities of its assistance so as to nail any criminal
elements around its jurisdiction.
