Dhansiri Bridge on March 1.
- DIMAPUR — Irked
by wanton disregard to its repeated plea against dumping garbage at both ends
of Dhansiri Bridge, the Kuda B Youth Organisation (KBYO) on Wednesday has
warned of punitive action against the defaulters.
- It stated that despite the signboards prohibiting disposal
of garbage that were put up in plain view of everyone coupled with numerous
sanitation drives and repeated warnings against dumping of waste at both ends
of the Dhansiri Bridge, the west end of the bridge at Kuda village continued to
be used as a garbage dump by few seemingly educated but ignorant individuals.
It stated that the level of ignorance and defiance displayed by such people was
directly responsible for the hazardous and polluted living conditions of nearby
inhabitants and commuters alike.
- Taking into consideration the unhealthy and hazardous
condition of the above mentioned area, it stated that KBYO was compelled to
conduct a social work at the site on March 1. It added that a land excavator
was deployed to clear the rotting garbage dumped for the past several weeks. It
stated that the garbage was disposed off properly by enlisting the help of Kuda
Youth Club’s sanitary truck.
- In this regard, KBYO has appealed to the public to inculcate
and cultivate hygienic habits, practice cleanliness and observe civic sense in
order to keep the surrounding environment clean and healthy.
- The organisation further reiterated that anyone caught
littering or disposing their garbage at the Old Dhansiri Bridge site would be
liable to pay a hefty amount of money as penalty or risk exposing their
shameful acts through various social media platforms.
