KTC condemns January 31 incident

Dimapur, Feb. 5: Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) has condemned the unfortunate January 31 incident in Dimapur, where the state force in exercising excessive use of force against the unarmed protestor resulting in death of late Bendangnungsang Longkumer and late Khriesavizo Metha. In solidarity with the rest of Naga Tribes, the KTC paid homage to the brave departed souls who have given their supreme sacrifice for the common cause. KTC also expressed its profound condolences to the bereaved families. Terming the incident as highly uncalled for owing to serious lacunae in the existing state government machinery, KTC stated that the state government should immediately bring justice and answer to the cry of the Nagas. President KTC P.Mongchuo and general secretary Puchai P.M. said in its meeting held in regard to ULB issue on February 4 at its Hq Noklak, unanimously resolved to stand with the rest of the Nagas, though the election to the Noklak Town Council (NTC) was held as per the directions received from the State Election Commission (SEC). Further the council resolved that it stands unquestionably clear in abiding with the general interest of the Nagas.
