Kohima, Dec. 28 (EMN): A four-day long 52nd Kandinu Student’s Union (KSU) Sports Meet on the theme “Amelioration” got underway on December 27 at KSU playground in Tseminyu sub-division, Kohima, with Director of Geology and Mining, Wanthang Wanth Rengma as the chief guest of the inaugural function.
In his address, Wanth stated that Kandi students are the hope and glory of a brighter future for the Kandi people. Calling upon them to think globally and act locally, he said nothing can substitute hard work and whoever has a habit of hard work can succeed in one way or other.
“Today, we need good leaders in the society, church and politics for progress and prosperity,” he said while appealing Kandi students to have a competitive mind. He also called upon them to adopt the forefathers’ life of simplicity, honesty and hard working.
Wanth further challenged them to be respectable citizens and live a disciplined life and also strive to become visionary leader who can guide and lead the people.
Short speech was also delivered by president of Rengma Selo Zi Kenneth Kath Chaired by Niwale Apon, the inaugural session commenced with prayer by pastor of Kandinu Baptist Church Sansiya Apon. Welcome address was delivered by president KSU Senpenlo Kath, while special song was presented by Nentile Kath and Richard Kath. KSU Games & Sports Secretary Nonsenlo Kath administered the oath to the participants, the while vote of thanks was delivered by women coordinator Siden Kath.
