Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): The semifinal matches of the 5th Frolic Cup was held on Friday, April 28 where Khanakhurü Students' Union and Kuki Youth Club 'B' sailed through their semi-final matches convincingly to finally draw swords today for the champion title.
In the first match between Tsiepama Youth Organisation and Khanakhurü Students' Union, both sides attempted shots at the goals right from the first whistle but failed to convert it successfully. TYO indeed had the upper hand with more possession but lady-luck had it otherwise and as the match progressed, KSU countered relentlessly to finally hit home the first goal from a header off Salu, assisted by Rhitso in the 38th minute of play.
KSU brilliantly broke through the defences of TYO on countless occasions which, in the end proved fatal for the defending champions TYO who had to bow out from a score of 4-0. The other goal scorer for KSU was Rhitso who inevitably became their hero after finding the net thrice, in the 43rd, 47th and 76th minute.
In the second match where Kuki Youth Club 'B' clashed with Molvom Youth and Students' Union, the MYSU players were literally beaten on all fronts although it may be one of the most enthralling match so far. Amid excellent short passes and breathtaking dribbles by both teams, MYSU hit the net early from the boots of Haotinlen in the 6th minute. KYC 'B' who had more experience displayed poise and struck back to kick in their first goal in the 21st minute through Ilungrei. No sooner was the equaliser marked, KYCB players gradually accelerated the pace and snatched away the momentum to finally net in 6 goals through Nyithung (3 goals) 38th, 60th and 82nd minute. Victor and Nampi scored in the 85th and 88th minute of the match.
The final match is scheduled on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Kesonyü Yhome, DC Dimapur, as guest of honour for the closing function of the 5th Frolic Cup 2017.
