Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) has detected various anomalies existing in the road, education, health and government establishments. The union has detected those anomalies during its surprise checking within its jurisdiction from June 4 to 11.
The union observed that road connectivity in entire Khiamniungan areas was in a deplorable condition. It expressed dismay that even after allotting the least schemes/funds, the execution of works has not been completed in a stipulated period and failed to meet the quality as sanctioned.
The union president, P Hatho, and the general secretary, Puthai T, have appealed to the concerned authorities to take serious note and implement the allotted works for all round development in the areas.
The union also found various schools functioning under acute shortage of teachers coupled with breakdown of infrastructures. Considering the plight of those schools, the union has urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter and provide quality education to the remotest part of the state.
KSU has also expressed displeasure with the poor performances/irregularities of the employees in the health sector as it observed that many primary health centre(s) and sub-centre(s) were non-functional. It has particularly resented the absence of a medical officer under PHC Panso, who was transferred on October 31, 2017, and whose replacement has not been made till date. The union claimed that previous lives were lost in the few months due to non-availability of medical official at Panso PHC. KSU has demanded the concerned authority to immediately deploy a medical officer at PHC Panso so as to avoid untoward consequences in future.
Besides, KSU also observed many loopholes and anomalies in various government establishments due to irregularities of the employees. It stated that the negligence of employees to perform their duties had caused inconveniences to the public. In this regard, KSU has directed all HoDs and employees serving under Khiamniungan jurisdiction to discharge the duties diligently and be stationed at their designated posting place. It has further warned to initiate its own course against the erring officials.
