The Kohima Science College Alumni Association has formally started work on its “Project Alpha 2” which is an ambitious project to constructing a 50-bed girls’ hostel in Kohima Science College campus at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.5 crore.
The foundation stone of the project was laid by Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu in the year 2011. The construction could commence only recently after the necessary preliminary works, the association stated in a press release issued to the media on Wednesday. A short prayer meeting was held on July 25 at the construction site where a dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev John Kamei from the Nagaland Baptist Church Council. Over 400 girl students are enrolled in the college every year, of which only 78 can be accommodated in the lone government girl’s hostel.
The facility of this long standing shortfall is not within sight and therefore the KSC Alumni Association has taken the initiative to fund the 50-bedded girl’s hostel in the college campus which would promote a sense of collective responsibility, the association says.
While acknowledging the generous contributions made by the alumni towards the building construction, the association has appealed to all stakeholders of the Institute to continue to uphold the cause and donate towards making the project a reality.
Contributions can be submitted directly to the principal of Kohima Science College or one may submit it to A/C Kohima Science College Alumni Association, A/C No. 31797404552, Branch –SBI, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
