Diphu, November 13 (EMN): A rally was held at Dillai area in Diphu by the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) in protest against the tragic incident that happened on Nov. 9 at Dillai Dispensary where a woman who was nine months pregnant died after she was refused treatment by the doctor.
During the protest, a memorandum was submitted to officer-In-charge, Dillai Police station.
The protest rally demanded justice for Sameli Singnarpi (the victim).
The memorandum mentions that the death of the pregnant woman has lowered the performance of the concerned doctor and nurses and the image of the competent authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
The memorandum mentions that the incident happened because of the ignorance and lack of proper facilities and equipments. The dispensary is far distance from the head quarter town of Diphu has dilapidated condition of road transportation delay to reach the destiny.
The dispensary which is located far from the head quarter of Diphu is said to be in dilapidated condition with no proper road transportation causing delay in reaching the destiny for the sick people.
The memorandum also stated that large number of teenagers in Dillai area are involved in drugs consumption which includes Dendrite, Spasmo Proxy, Marijuana which is a sign of darkness among the teenagers. Hence, to reduce and prevent such activities from taking place, necessary steps must be taken between the police department and Karbi Students’ Association.
The student organisation demanded punishment to Dr. Netai Chandra Dey for refusing to treat the patient claiming his duty was over. The organisation also demanded to compensate the victim’s family by the medical department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and to increase the number of working doctors and nurses.
