
DIPHU – Different factions of Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) celebrated the 64th foundation of KSA with separate programmes being organised to mark the day as Karbi Students’ Day.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, who was the chief guest of the events hosted by KSA Inglongpho and KSA Lumding Road factions, respectively, hinted that Karbi Anglong district will granted autonomous state during Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s tenure.

KSA Inglongpho group celebrated the KSA foundation day at KSA central executive committee office here at Rongthe-ang, while the KSA Lumding Road faction organised the celebration at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall, at Matipung.
Another faction of KSA led by Jemson Timung organised the celebration at the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) office.
At KSA, CEC office, the CEM said that the Assam chief minister has told him three times that during his tenure as chief minister, the district will be granted “Autonomous State.”
The CEM further said, “As mentioned in the memorandum by the KSA we have to protect our boundary. At Khanduli with the setting up of the State University, the boundary can be sealed. Also at Sabuda in Chinthong if the CRPF training camp is set up as asked by the para-military force then the boundary with Meghalaya can be sealed. The border with Nagaland can be sealed as the Assam Police Commando training camp is coming up,” Ronghang said. The CEM also announced that a KAAC team be led him including MLAs and MP will meet Union Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, to discuss granting of full-fledged Central University status to the existing Assam University, Diphu Campus.
