Diphu, April 19 (EMN): The Karbi Students Association (KSA) under Bijoy Bey’s leadership organised a press conference on April 19 Thursday at its office in Rongnihang regarding the land dispute area between Assam and Meghalaya in Block-I and II and Khanduli.
President of KSA Bijoy Bey stated that the Block-I and Block-II and Khanduli areas should not be included in the 12 differences area of Assam and Meghalaya. He said that the Assam government should not consider any ‘give and take policy’ with the Meghalaya government while stating that the Block-I and Block-II and Khanduli areas fall in West Karbi Anglong district. He said the problems between Assam and Meghalaya has been ongoing since the last 30 years. Also, he said that the Assam government are not willing to solve the disputed areas that has witnessed many incidents during the last three decades.
Bey also lambasted the Assam government for ignorance. He said before major conflicts arises the higher authority should take immediate action and solve the problems before the flame get brighter.
Also, Bey stated that in Umrotu under Chingthong constituency Border Out Post (BoP) was constructed by the Assam government but the people from Meghalaya backed by its government came and are not allowing to construct the BoP in Umrotu. In this regard the authority of Assam and the KAAC government should intervene and solve the problem within the stipulated time, he asserted.
Also the president of KSA urged the Assam government to look up the matter within the short point of time. He said that the Meghalaya government should stop illegal encroachment of land. He urged upon the KAAC authority to take up the matter as they are the guardian of the land.
Concerning to land dispute area a meeting would be held soon between the two states informed Bey.
