Dimapur, April 7 (EMN): The minister for Planning and Coordination Neiba Kronu has urged officers and staff of the state planning machinery, the Planning and Coordination department, to seek to move forward with a vision to bring a higher level of development to the state of Nagaland.
In his address during a meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Kohima on April 6, the minister talked about creating an ‘appropriate system’ to guide new development models and plans to develop the state at all fronts ‘with a substantial and efficient delivery system.’
An almanac for the Planning department’s businesses was finalized and important agenda concerning developmental activities in the state including escalation of project costs, negotiated loans, lingering projects, process for clearing of files, and issues about sustainable development goals (SDG) were discussed during the meeting.
Referring to the commitment of the present state’s government to bring a change in the system, Kronu remarked that ‘basic necessary change’ in the system requires implementation immediately. The reason is, he said, the new government has set a target of 100 days, 200 days, and one year for achievable goals.
Further, the minister assured that the government will be strictly monitoring the performances of all the departments and identify both performing and non-performing departments.
In his closing remarks, Kronu pointed out the importance of the Planning department with regard to development. He encouraged the officers and staff to be efficient and effective in delivering services so that the department becomes one of the best performing departments in the government.
Commissioner- Secretary M Patton presided over the meeting. Nosazol Charles, additional development commissioner, gave an account of the activities of the department, and initiated discussions on various agenda.
