Parliamentary Secretary of Planning & Evaluation, Neiba Kronu, who was recently given the charge to oversee the department of Taxes, held the first meeting with the officials and staff on January 16 in the office of Commissioner of Taxes, Dimapur.
Addressing the gathering, Kronu encouraged the department towards revamping the structure so that tax collection could be more streamlined and effective. He further observed that every citizen should take pride by paying proper taxes so that the government could provide more services to the public.“This will go a long way in developing a sense of belongingness and allegiance towards the state,” he maintained and reminded that any government of the day cannot run without revenue.
Commissioner of Taxes, Asangba Chuba Ao, highlighted on the new modules of taxes including CST, e-payment, e-revenue, e-registration, revenue collection etc and informed that Nagaland is the first state in the North East to make e-registration.
OSD (G), V Kezo, lauded the department of taxes for the achievements made in recent years and observed that the Department has been leading in the fore front in the area of technology revolution while interfacing between the Government and stakeholders.
Additional Commissioner of Taxes, Mhathung Murry, highlighted on the basic facts and achievements of the department.
