Parliamentary secretary for Planning & Co-ordination, Evaluation, Monitoring & Taxes, Neiba Kronu called on Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram in New Delhi recently.
Kronu highlighted the problems faced by the tribal people in the country and Nagaland in particular and requested the minister to look into the welfare of the state in order to bring changes and development in the society by granting more funds to the state.
The union minister informed that after a deliberative conference held on April 7 in New Delhi with state ministers, principal secretaries and secretaries, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has decided to organize a Tribal Carnival on April 29 to showcase the rich and colourful tradition of the tribals of the country from all parts of India in which a large number of participants are expected. The function will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The Union Minister requested Kronu and the government of Nagaland to represent the state in large number to show its rich culture and diversity. Kronu assured all support and manpower in whatever way the state government could be of help, informed a press statement issued by Thomas Thailu, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Department of Planning & Co-ordination, New Delhi.
