
Farmers and experts at the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Phek,
for a training programme on climate-resilient technologies under the NICRA
project on Thursday.
- DIMAPUR — ICAR-Krishi
Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Phek (ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun (NRCM),
Medziphema), under ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, Umiam, organised a one-day training
programme on climate-resilient technologies under the National Innovations in
Climate Resilient Agriculture project on Thursday.
- The programme, attended by farmers from K Basa, Thipuzu,
Phusachodu, Kikruma, and Pfutseromi villages, aimed to enhance their knowledge
and skills in adopting climate-resilient agricultural practices, stated a press
release.
- In the first technical session, Dr. Esther T Longkumer, CTO
(Soil Science), emphasised the importance of soil health management, while Dr.
Hannah K Asangla, CTO (Agronomy), delivered a lecture on climate-resilient
crops, and Manjunath KS, SMS (Horticulture), discussed detailed cultivation
practices of Amaranthus.
- The second technical session featured presentations by Dr.
Sharanappa CH, SMS (Plant Protection), on managing major pests of crops. Dr.
Harini KR, SMS (Animal Science), provided insights into pig production and
management, while Dr. Ragulraj, STO (NRCM), highlighted the benefits of
backyard poultry farming.
- Nukusa T Vadeo, STO (Computer), explained the registration
process for the M-ANITRA app, a digital platform for Mithun farmers. The
programme concluded with a farmers-scientist interaction.
