
Officials of KVK Phek and participants after an awareness
programme on sustainable livestock and fodder management in Porba on Friday.
- DIMAPUR — The
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek, under ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema,
conducted an awareness programme on “Sustainable livestock and fodder
management: A path to food security and climate resilience” on Friday.
- An update from KVK Phek stated that the programme was
sponsored by ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi.
- Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, senior scientist and head of KVK
Phek, welcomed the participants and spoke on integration of fodder crops with
existing farming systems, while a presentation on climate resilient fodder
cultivation was delivered by Dr. Hannah K Asangla, CTO, Agronomy.
- T Esther Longkumar, CTO Soil Science, presented topic on
soil conservation through fodder production, while Dr. Ragulraj, STO, ICAR
NRCM, Porba, spoke on the importance of developing small scale poultry farms
for income generation and to meet the demands of the local people.
- A lecture on livestock management practices was delivered by
Dr. Harini, SMS Animal Science, while a presentation on post harvest management
was delivered by Dr. Venkatesh, SMS, Agriculture Engineer.
- The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by
Keniseto Chucha, farm manager.
- Mithun farmers from Porba village under Phek district
attended the programme.
