- DIMAPUR — As part
of ‘Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week’ celebration, the ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra
(KVK), Peren, organised a one-day training on “Backyard poultry production for
livelihood improvement” in Jalukie town on March 20.
- An update from KVK Peren stated that Dr. KL Meena, principal
scientist and head, KVK, Peren, emphasised on importance of scientific
management system of poultry rearing for income generation and sustainable
farming.
- It stated that Menailiu, councilor of ward-4, congratulated
KVK Peren and expressed happiness for organising such programmes for the
benefit of the farmers of Jalukie, while Ireuga Zeliang, councilor of Ward-2,
advised the participants to explore the benefits of scientific method of
farming under the guidance of KVK for income generation.

- During the technical session, Dr. L Babita Devi, CTO (Animal
Science), delivered lecture on the topic “Backyard poultry production with
special reference to common diseases of poultry and their management.” She
elaborated on the importance of scientific management and use of improved
germplasm of poultry for backyard system.
- She also explained in detail about the housing and feeding
management of backyard system and made the farmers aware about the importance of
deworming and vaccination in poultry rearing.
- Altogether, 40 participants attended the training. It added
that a total of 600 day-old Rainbow Rooster chicks, Lasota vaccines were also
distributed to the beneficiary farmers of Jalukie town.
