DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mon organised a six-day training programme from January 23 to January 29, 2024, at Mohung Village, Mon district,  focused on poultry rearing and management.

According to an update, it was conducted in collaboration with the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland, and the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) under the Skill Development of Rural Youths (STRY) programme.

During the programme, 15 rural youths (10 males and five females) were trained in all aspects of poultry production, including breeds, breeding, housing, nutrition, diseases, health care management, and routine management.

The course director for the training was Dr. Rongsen, assistant chief technical officer (ACTO) (Animal Science) at KVK Mon.

On the final day, certificates were distributed to the trainees, and during the validity session, Dr. Akashe Zhimomi, senior scientist and head of KVK Mon, encouraged the trainees to work hard and put their new skills to good use.

The trainees were given broiler chicks and starter feeds to help them begin poultry rearing and become acquainted with the poultry industry.
