DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng, conducted a one-day training programme on vermicompost techniques for organic farming and soil enrichment at Noksosang village.
The training was led by Dr. Avaneesh Kumar, subject matter specialist (Agronomy), who highlighted the importance of vermicomposting in improving soil health, enhancing nutrient availability, and reducing dependence on chemical fertilisers.
During the programme, Shubhendu Kumar Behera, subject matter specialist (Plant Pathology), and Dr. Kalu Ram, subject matter specialist (Fruit Science), were also present and interacted with the participants, according to an update.

They shared practical insights on the role of organic inputs in disease management and crop productivity and stressed the integrated approach of organic farming for long-term soil fertility and sustainable crop production.
A total of 54 farmers participated in the training programme.
In the feedback session, farmers expressed their appreciation to the ICAR–Agriculture Science Centre, Longleng, for organising the training at the village level.
