Krishi Vigyan Kendra Longleng held an oyster mushroom training and input distribution at Noksosang village, engaging SHGs for livelihood improvement.

DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng conducted a two-day Oyster Mushroom training-cum-demonstration and input distribution programme at Noksosang village in Longleng district.
According to an update, the programme saw the participation of 78 members representing seven self-help groups (SHGs) — Pangsha Khong, Pangchenla Khong, Mechangyem Khong, Haiyuh Khong, Matenchetla Khong, Chiitaplg Khong, and Meyung Khong.
The technical sessions were led by Shubhendu Kumar Behera, SMS (Plant Pathology), supported by Dr. Kalu Ram, subject matter specialist (SMS) (Fruit Science), and Avaneesh Kumar, SMS (Agronomy). Participants received hands-on demonstrations on oyster mushroom production techniques, followed by the distribution of essential inputs to all participating self-help groups (SHGs).
Onthan Phom, village development board (VDB) secretary of Noksosang village, expressed appreciation for the initiative and encouraged villagers to adopt mushroom cultivation for income generation.

Farmers conveyed gratitude to ICAR–KVK Longleng for organising the training and providing practical skills for livelihood improvement. The KVK team also collected farmers’ feedback and documented a local mushroom germplasm, “Kunglu”, for future conservation and research work.
