DIMAPUR — The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur, in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, ATMA-Chümoukedima, and Niuland, organised a two-way webcasting programme at the council hall, Naga United village, Chümoukedima district, on August 2.
To programme was in conjunction with the release of the 20th instalment of the PM KISAN Samman Nidhi Scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 2, where around INR 20,500 crore was transferred to over 9.7 crore farmers, an update stated.
Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor of Agriculture and chief guest at the event, urged farmers to sign up for the PM KISAN Scheme and make optimal use of the INR 2000 financial support to enhance their agricultural practices. He highlighted that the scheme provides a total annual benefit of INR 6000 to farmers, disbursed in three instalments.

The advisor also highlighted the importance of technology-driven farming and the adoption of farm machinery to increase agricultural income.
“Farmers should take advantage of the good soil and climate that we have been blessed and also to go for crop rotation of two to three crops in a crop,” Yanthan added.
The programme was also attended by officials, including Wezope Kenye, Agriculture Production Commissioner; Sanuzo Nienu, Director of Agriculture department; Rosemarry Ezung, Joint Director of Agriculture; Ronzamo Kikon, Deputy Director of Agriculture; Moainla Pongen, District Agriculture Officer, Chümoukedima; L Hoshito Chophi, District Agriculture Officer, Dimapur; and other state officials.
Altogether, 350 participants, including farmers from different villages and blocks of Chümoukedima, Dimapur and Niuland districts, attended the programme..
An input distribution of vegetables seeds to the farmers was also conducted. The programme concluded with farmer scientist interaction.
PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi in Mokokchung
The 20th PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Yisemyong, Mokokchung district, on August 2. The programme was organised by the KVK, Mokokchung, in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mokokchung, an update stated.
Dr. Keviletsu Khate, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Mokokchung, in his keynote address, explained the origin of PM-Kisan scheme, its significance for the farming community and purpose of the scheme.
Temsuliba, Agriculture Inspector at the District Agriculture Office, highlighted the benefits of the PM-Kisan scheme in Mokokchung district and provided an update on the current status of beneficiaries.
Dr. Rongsennungla, Deputy Project Director at ATMA, Mokokchung, encouraged participants who hadn't yet enrolled in the PM-Kisan scheme to take advantage of its benefits.
The event featured a live screening of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address, which was witnessed by participants and officials.
A total of 240 farmers participated in the event, which was presided over by Dr. Martha, ACTO (Plant Protection), and Dr. Sarendi Walling, ACTO (Animal Science), delivered the vote of thanks.
