KOHIMA — Developers of the popular game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Krafton India Private Limited, on Tuesday highlighted career avenues in game development, publishing, and eSports.

Addressing a press conference, Saurabh Shah, head of People Operations, Krafton India; Karan Gaikwad, lead PM, Krafton India; and Manva Hunswadkar, lead PR, Krafton India, at Hotel Vivor Kohima, said that a large population of Nagaland also plays BGMI.

They stated that, apart from game development and game publishing, eSports is also an important pillar of their business in India, and they make significant investments in the gaming startup ecosystem in the country.

They also highlighted that they have incubated a team from Nagaland called ReDimension Games Pvt Ltd, based in Kohima, for about a year, which initially started with four people and now has 10 members.

They said that in their incubator programme called Krafton India Gaming Incubator, they basically incubate teams who have a basic game of their own and need mentorship to take the game to the next step. Krafton incubates them, providing complete mentorship and financial support for about a year to help get their game ready to launch and sell to users.

They believe that the gaming market in India has flourished and that it is not only a consumer market but also a creator market.

They said that their purpose in coming to the state is to create awareness about gaming not only from a playing perspective but also in terms of how it can create opportunities for everyone who is part of the ecosystem.

They also expressed that, since the BGMI population is large in Nagaland, it is a good opportunity for them to engage with early talent and help them excel in their field.

They also noted that they are willing to collaborate with the state at the Hornbill Festival when it comes to eSports competitions.
