
Kipi Qomi Welfare Society (KQWS) conducted a seminar/ awareness programme on Sumi tribe festival on March 10 and 11 at Sumi community hall in Dimapur and Kohima respectively.
The seminar was conducted with an objective to reignite the knowledge of traditional culture and festival of the Sumi tribe in the transitioning modern life.
An update from KQWS stated that the special guest and joint director of SCERT, Hosheli, spoke on the necessity to value Sumi culture and also learn to co-ordinate with the current modern lifestyle. He also spoke on the origin of Sema culture and Tuluni festival and its significance.
The resource person and joint director of School Education, Piholi Sumi, also spoke on the need to re-learn and re-nurture the values of tribal culture and not to forsaken their culture.
It stated that KQWS has successful concluded two-day cultural seminar and awareness of Sumi tribe at Hevishe village community hall and Sumi community hall at Don Bosco HSS, Kohima.
KQWS has expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, government of India, for the opportunity to organise cultural programme and seminar in a grand manner.
