Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC) is shocked to learn of the brutal murder of a television journalist, Santanu Bhowmik near Agartala in Tripura on Wednesday while discharging his journalistic duty, covering a road blockade protest.
The KPC condemned the heinous act which was carried out to silence the voice of free press and brings to question the safety and security of journalists in a country that widely professes freedom of press. The press club urged the government of Tripura to perform a thorough probe into the killing and deliver justice. The KPC expressed solidarity to its Agartala counterpart and also conveyed heartfelt condolences to bereaved family.
