  • WOKHA — A new rostrum constructed under Local Area Development Programme (LADP) was inaugurated in Koro village under Bhandari sub-division in Wokha district on Friday.

  • The rostrum was inaugurated by local MLA Achumbemo Kikon, who is also chairman of the SDPB Bhandari.

  • Speaking at the inaugural event, Kikon emphasised the importance of preserving and continuing the ancestral practices of truth and integrity saying that Naga ancestors upheld truth and honesty as paramount virtues.

  • Acknowledging the vastness of his assembly constituency, which encompasses more than a hundred villages, Kikon expressed that limited resources sometimes hinder the realisation of the aspirations of every village. He, however, assured commitment to doing his best for the local community.

  • He urged the people to have faith in him and to continue working together in achieving collective dreams, stating that it is his vision to ensure the fulfillment of the needs of every villager.

  • He further called for unity and a cohesive approach toward building a progressive society rather than division. Stressing that development initiatives by the government are aimed at community progress, he reminded the people that it is the responsibility of the community to choose between embracing progress and remaining stagnant.

  • Kikon also addressed the issue of border fencing by the central government along the Indo-Burma border, reminding the people that the Nagas are one community spread across vast regions. He asserted that Nagas are neither animals nor criminals to be confined within a cage, emphasising that families exist across these artificial borders.

  • During the inaugural ceremony, the MLA honoured the two oldest residents of Koro village—a senior woman and man—with tokens of appreciation for their community contributions.

  • Kikon was accompanied by Longasen Lotha, additional deputy commissioner of Bhandari, and Philip Yanthan, SDPO of Bhandari.
