Ajit Kumar Verma chairs coordination meet in Mangmetong ahead of Koridang AC by-election under MCC norms.

DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, along with senior superintendent of police Vesupro Kezo and other government officials, visited Mangmetong village on April 4 for a coordination meeting with village council members in connection with the forthcoming by-election to the 28 (ST) Koridang Assembly Constituency at Panchayat Bhavan, Mangmetong village.
While interacting with the members, Verma reiterated that the village council is an authorised institution under the government, and that the council members should therefore function beyond any restriction while carrying out their responsibilities in connection with the by-election, a DIPR report stated.
Verma urged the council members to be judicious while performing their duties.

He also stated that as the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) as laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI) has been enforced, all the government electioneering machinery is responsible to take every measure to provide an environment for a free and fair conduct of the election procedure.
Nockpai Konyak, SDO (C), Mokokchung and returning officer for the by-election to Koridang AC, while addressing the meeting, added that as the MCC is in effect under the constituency, requested all to adhere to these procedures.
