Dimapur, April 4 (EMN): The Konyak tribe celebrated Aoleang Monyu festival on April 4 at local ground in Mon, with the advisor of DUDA, N Bongkhao Konyak as chief guest and deputy commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K as guest of honour. A DPRO report updated about the event on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Bongkhao urged the people to work together for civil societies and reminded young intellectuals to find a path for preserving the lost rich traditions and cultures.
The chief guest called on the student leaders to advocate the importance of education among the far flung villages and serve the community with utmost allegiance. He urged the youths about proper utilization of technology while advocating not letting the rich diverse culture and tradition become a mere history. He appealed to the young minds to embrace culture with pride wherever they go.
Maintaining that the strength and power of a community lies not in the geographical areas but in unity, he called called upon the people to be more united to face challenges and hurdles that may come on the way.
Guest of honor, Thavaseelan K, IAS, DC Mon also called upon the citizens of Mon to rededicate oneself for the progress of the festival.
Legislators EE Pangteang, C L John, Y M Yollow, Eshak Konyak, and ENPO president were also present at the event.
