Kohima, July 27 (EMN): Leiying Konyak was adjudged the Miss Konyak Students' Union Kohima (KSUK) 2019 during the union’s 36th “freshers” meet and Miss KSUK, which was conducted at the Ura Academy on July 27 in Kohima.
Neilem Jessica and Esang Monyu were declared the first and second runners-up winners.
During the event, Lamsong Khiam, political assistant to minister for Higher & Technical Education Temjen Imna Along conveyed regrets on behalf of the minister for not being able to attend the event. Khiam assured all possible help to the Konyak community where required.
Khiam urged the new students to choose their path wisely as their future depends on which route they take. ‘Although the road ahead may not be easy always have faith in God,’ he told the students.
Annother aide, Manlem Konyak also spoke on behalf of member of legislative assembly CL John, who was the guest of honour for the day. The finance secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Rev. Yamyap, said prayers for the new students.
A new team of office bearers was also elected during the occasion. Ngengwan is president while Lhepong is general secretary, and nine others. The president of the Konyak Students' Union, AB Phaiba, attended the second session of the programme as a special invitee.
