Konyak Union Tobu demands infrastructure development
Tobu unit of Konyak Union has appealed to the government to construct additional classrooms at Government Higher Secondary School, Tobu, and Horticulture office in Tobu town
- DIMAPUR — The
Tobu unit of Konyak Union (KU) has appealed to the government to construct
additional classrooms at Government Higher Secondary School, Tobu, and
Horticulture office in Tobu town.
- In a representation to the principal director of School
Education, KU Tobu unit informed that Government High Secondary School (GHS) Tobu
was upgraded to Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Tobu on July 14, 2022
following which the union took the initiative to provide its office space for
conducting classes due to lack of sufficient classrooms. Additionally, it
stated that the union had constructed two extra rooms through goodwill
donations to support the institution.
- However, it stated that the union was unable to continue
providing its office space from this academic session onwards, thereby leading
to critical classroom shortage that is disrupting academic activities.
- It mentioned that the student enrolment from class 6 to 12
reached 526 in the year 2024, further emphasising the urgent need for
additional classrooms to accommodate the growing number of students.
- It also appealed to the government to deploy an Economics
subject teacher, who had resigned on August 30, 2024. It stated that the
students have been attending classes without a subject teacher for Economics
since then.
- In another representation the director of Horticulture
director, the union has appealed to construct an office building and appoint
new staff.
- It claimed that after the office horticulture at Tobu town
has been rendered non-functional following retirement of the former officer,
Pongshak Phom in 2024, thereby causing immense difficulties for farmers and
stakeholders who rely on the department for guidance, resources and
horticultural support.
- To ensure efficient delivery of service, the union requested
the department to construct a fully functional office for the Horticulture
department in Tobu town and to appoint a new officer and new staff at the
earliest.
