Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, Sep. 23:  In an emergency meeting of Konyak Union (KU) advisory board council in Mon town, it was decided that the union would abstain from attending the meeting of Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) and Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO), which is scheduled to be held on September 25 at Kaziranga in Assam. An office document of the KU, dated September 22, stated that its advisory council had thoroughly discussed “the said sanction package towards the ENPO areas by government of India.” “Whereas, the meeting has unanimously decided to unwaveringly oppose the special package unless written statement is obtained from the Gol. In this regard, the union is seeking the written statement on the said package which should not be in lieu of the statehood demand,” it stated. Copies of the union’s decision to skip the Kaziranga meeting were addressed to the chairman of ENLU, president of ENPO, and all tribal presidents under ENPO. It may be mentioned that a multi-disciplinary committee from the government of India had toured of eastern Nagaland from September 10 to the 12th, and assured to look into the problems of the area, identify gaps and present the ground reality to the central government.
