DIMAPUR — Konyak Union has renewed its call for bifurcation of Mon district to create new administrative districts, a demand they presented during a meeting with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on August 29 in Kohima.
A press release on Saturday stated that the KU had submitted a reminder letter to the chief minister, urging the government to address the growing administrative challenges in Mon district by creating separate districts.
The union argued that the bifurcation would help improve governance and ensure better service delivery to the people, particularly in the Tizit–Tiru–Naginimora border region.

In addition to the bifurcation request, the KU urged the government to speed up the completion of Nagaland Foothill Road project, which is crucial for reducing the difficulties faced by Konyak residents who rely on Assam highways.
Chief Minister Rio assured the KU of his full support and promised to take necessary actions to address the community's concerns, it stated.
