Dimapur, September 26 : The Konyak Union (KU) has extended its utmost appreciation to the State Government especially the Chief Secretary and the Home Commissioner for immediately complying with its plea by officially recognizing “Konyak Lao-ong Mo” (post harvest festival) and declaring September 28 as a restricted holiday for all the Konyak employees as desired by the people.
“Such prompt response from the State Government had showed its dedication and efficiency. Such attitude/gesture should be inculcated by every bureaucrat in the State machinery,” Konyak Union president S Manlip Konyak and general secretary Honang M Konyak stated in a release today.
Henceforth, the Konyak Union said it has declared September 28 and 29 as the official dates for celebration of the Konyak Lao-ong Mo and appealed and directed its entire units to observe the proposed harvest festival in accordance with the norms and with thanks giving.
The release said all institution and offices within Konyak jurisdiction should remain closed on September 28 and that it should continue henceforth.
The union has requested all the institutional heads and the HODs to strictly adhere to it directives without fail.
Meanwhile, while directing all the Konyak employees within the State of Nagaland to abstain from attending the offices on September 28, the Konyak Union also appealed to all the departmental heads to consider such cases on account of Konyak Lao-ong Mo.
The Konyak Union has further informed that it will be observing Konyak Lao-ong Mo in Mon town on September 28 hence and requested all area to positively take part in the celebration. It added that participation and competition will be held area/unit wise.
