Konyak Union appeals for end to Foothills Road impasse
Konyak Union (KU) has appealed to all parties concerned to come to a mutual understanding and bring an end to the ongoing impasse between the state government and the Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFRCC).
- DIMAPUR — The
Konyak Union (KU) has appealed to all parties concerned to come to a mutual
understanding and bring an end to the ongoing impasse between the state
government and the Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFRCC).
- In a press release issued on Thursday, the union said it is
imperative that the issue be resolved without creating further confusion.
- “The KU remains deeply concerned about the situation and is
making every effort to understand and resolve the complexities involved. The KU
acknowledges and highly appreciates the sacrifices, dedication, and relentless
efforts of the NFHRCC, whose struggle has now borne fruit with the approval and
sanctioning of this very important project,” it stated.
- The KU also extended gratitude to the state government for
recognising the importance of the Foothills Road and taking the initiative to
implement it.
- “The Foothills Road has been a long-cherished dream of the
people, and its realisation is a moment to celebrate. However, instead of
rejoicing, the ongoing disagreement over the contract agreement between the
state government and the NFHRCC has become a matter of concern,” the union
said.
- “The KU firmly believes that this important project should
not be delayed or obstructed by any party. The KU fully understands and
respects the good intentions of the NFHRCC in ensuring quality road
infrastructure for the people, as well as the role and responsibilities of the
state government in executing the project.”
- However, the KU affirmed that it cannot afford to let the
impasse continue without a just and logical resolution.
- To this end, the union urged its representatives within the
NFHRCC to place their trust in the wisdom and leadership of the KU, assuring
that it is committed to working collectively to ensure the successful
implementation of the project within Konyak jurisdiction.
- The union affirmed that it will actively supervise and
oversee the execution of the project, ensuring strict compliance with the
Detailed Project Report (DPR).
- To uphold accountability and transparency, the KU will
require the contractors concerned to come to an agreement with the union,
committing to strict adherence to the DPR, it added.
- “All action plans, verification, and inspections can be
conducted jointly by the KU, NFHRCC members, and the
department concerned. This collective approach should put an end to the impasse
within the Konyak jurisdiction, and the contractors should start the work
immediately without any hindrance,” the union said.
