DIMAPUR — The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has reiterated its demand for the review and reform of the existing state job reservation policy based on population ratio to ensure equitable justice for all communities in Nagaland.
In a letter to the chief minister of Nagaland, the union reminded that despite an earlier representation submitted to the office on the subject, no concrete step or official communication has been received, which has caused deep concern and disappointment among the Konyak people, particularly the youths whose future depends on this matter.
It said that the Konyak tribe, constituting one of the largest tribal populations in Nagaland, continues to face systemic marginalisation under the current job reservation framework.

The disparity in employment opportunities, coupled with the lowest literacy rate, the highest rate of educated unemployment, and poor socio-economic indicators in Mon district, calls for urgent redressal, it said.
It noted that this is not just an appeal for policy reform but a desperate cry for justice, equity, and recognition of its rightful share, asserting that the delay in addressing this genuine demand has intensified the frustration and disillusionment among educated Konyak youths, which, if unattended, may lead to undesirable social consequences.
KSU urged immediate review and restructuring of the existing job reservation policy and the introduction of a population-based reservation system through a special cabinet decision without waiting for the release of the new census.
