Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): Kongan Village Council (KVC) in Mon district has informed that all mining activities will be “completely banned” within Kongan jurisdiction from Nov. 20. The village council issued a press release on Sunday informing about the decision. All labour and machineries should be withdrawn from Kongan soil within a stimulated time, the KVC warned. The emergency declaration had been initiated because the present coal mining activity in the area is hampering the proposed national highway survey that connects Mon district with Assam.
In this regard, the KVC has directed all coal mining contractors and land owners to strictly comply with the aforesaid directives so as to deliver road connectivity to the entire Konyak populace. Further, the KVC informed that it will not be held responsible for any untoward situation that may occur on non compliance to the directives. Individuals concerned will be solely held responsible for any eventualities, the press release added.
