Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Kohima district, has organises an inter-district tour to Pfütsero in Phek district on June 5 with farmer representatives from all the blocks under the district.
The team visited kiwi farm school at Tsiikozhie, a few kilometres away from Pfutsero village, belonging to Ngupetso Kapfo. Sharing his experiences and the journey he came across, Kapfo stated that he set up the farm on his own interest in the year 2007 with 100 saplings.
At present there are 1200 kiwi plants. The total yield production per annum is 2600 kg approximate. Marketing is done basing on grade system. Grade-A are sold at INR 150, Grade-B at INR 100 and Grade-C at INR 80 to different markets including local markets, Moa gate, Guhawati etc.
With the experience he gained, Kapfo said that training and pruning of the plant is important to avoid disease and for more yielding.
At the farm school, the teacher demonstrated on grafting of kiwi plant. Kapfo has also started with a few numbers of Persimom plantation and a small nursery unit.
The team also visited horticulture department, where some HRF members took the group to floriculture and nursery units of horticulture farm. The team later visited a cabbage farm of Zeweü, a progressive farmer at Lekromi, where she shared on how and where they cultivate and market their cabbages in and around Kohima and Dimapur.
The team was lead by deputy project director, Rokoshüno Angela and her co- functionaries of ATMA Kohima district.
