DIMAPUR, JULY 20: The adoption committees of the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) have place their report of activities and sets of action plans of their respective adopted villages and wards. The committees presented their reports during the monthly DPDB meeting that was held on July 15. The deputy commissioner, also vice chairman of the board, Rovilatuo Mor presided over the meeting.
Responding to the reports, Mor asked the committees to expedite their activities within the stipulated time. In regard to Nagaland Vision 2030, he said that some departments have submitted their ‘district vision’ statements.
Speaking about the village-adoption project, sub-division officer (Sadar), Kethosituo Sekhose, informed the officials of the board that the committee had decided to publish a booklet stating the activities of the adoption committees. Besides, it will have information about work initiated by various departments during the past two years. The booklet would be presented to the board ‘for inclusive report’ to the government of Nagaland, the official said.
In response, deputy commissioner Mor expressed optimism that the government would take interest and introduce the concept to other development boards across the state.
The deputy Commissioner also broached work associated with the District Coordination Committee, in which development departments and banking institutions were members. Rovilatuo Mor asked the members to regularly attend the meetings of the group.
Pointing out that the banks were to assist the people ‘wherever the government resources cannot reach,’ the vice chairman requested the development department such as the agriculture and allied departments to identify potential areas and assist the farmers ‘when the banks could provide financial assistance in order to improve their economy.’
The official also requested the district officers in the various government departments to actively participate in the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The additional deputy commissioner for Planning, Ketoho Luho, also raised some ‘issues of concern’ in regard to “horse meat” available in the town. Another issue that he raised was the problem for parking.
In response, the deputy commissioner assured to take up the matter with the DPDB’s chairman.
