The Kohima Village Gazetted Officers’ Association (KVGOA) held their biennial conference on Friday, January 15, at the Kohima village council hall, near Kohima town.
Addressing a host of officers present at the conference, Vipralhou Kesiezie, director of the State Council of Educational Research & Training, who is also one of the founding members and former president of the group, stressed on the need for ‘better coordination and cooperation.’ Expressing his concern at the ‘lack of coordination among the Naga,’ Kesiezie said, ‘The Naga people are filled with hatred, jealousy, enmity etc’ which he said would ‘take down the people if the think tank members of the society do not play a constructive role of a coordinator and work cohesively with broader attitude and better perspective towards the peace, progress and development of the Naga people as a whole.’
Exhorting the gathering, he also said the roles and responsibilities as members of the association are huge and very important. Kohima being the state capital, he maintained that the members need to work hand in hand with the state government for any kind of development, and also urged on the need to coordinate with other tribal bodies in Kohima for a harmonious and peaceful co-existence.
Highlighting on some projects that are to be taken as part of the Kohima Smart City Plan, the Director also asserted that the think tank members of the society need to a play a pro-active role towards the successful implementation of Smart City Plan.
However, he also reminded the gathering on the need to urgently look into the problem of garbage management and traffic congestion, which otherwise he said will pose as a big problem in the coming years.
Also stating his concern on the increase of pollution and depletion of flora and fauna which is greatly contributing to climate change, Vipralhou pressed on the need towards conservation and preservation of Pulie Badze and the Japfii Range from further deforestation by the people.
He said that as educated members of the society, the officers need to create awareness among the people and set a good example by doing something towards conservation of nature and its resources for a better life tomorrow.
