Kohima, June 29 (EMN) :The K-POP Dream Team Nagaland is all set to organise the preliminary round of the ‘K-Pop Contest India 2017’ on July 1 at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma in Kohima under the banner of K-Pop World Festival.
This was announced by the organisers during a press conference held today at Dream Café, Kohima.
This is the 6th edition of K-Pop Contest India, which is being organised by the Korean Cultural Centre, India. Going by the number of entries of participants, this year’s contest is turning out to be the biggest K-Pop event in the country, it was informed.
A total of 424 teams, 898 participants had registered their singing and dancing videos through online for the preliminary rounds which will take place in eleven regions including Nagaland. The other regions are Delhi (24th June), Patna, Chennai, Assam (All 30th June), Mizoram (1st July), Bangalore (2nd July), Hyderabad (4th July), Odisha (5th July), Kolkata & Mumbai (8th July). Here in Nagaland, around 15 entries have registered for the preliminary round, it was informed.
The winners from the regional rounds, that is, one each for both cover song and dance, will compete for the grand finale scheduled on July 29, 2017, at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi. Meanwhile, the winning team at the grand finale will be nominated for the 2017 K-Pop world festival and go on a complimentary trip to Korea.
Managing director of K-Pop Dream Team Nagaland, Ezomongo Xaiyi Humtsoe expressed hope that the contest would be able to provide the needed platform to the young and talented artistes of the State to climb up to the national and international arena.
Humtsoe also informed that over 100 participants submitted their entries; however, online preliminary competitions were held wherein only a selected few would be vying for the regional title on July 1 which will commence at 4.30 pm.
As for the regional round in Nagaland, the top three winners in the category of cover song will receive Rs 5,000, 4,000 and 3,000 respectively, while the winners in cover dance will receive Rs 6,000, 4,000 and 3,000 respectively.
The list of judges includes Lee Seol Jun, a vocal instructor of a major entertainment company, from Korea, and will assisted by Edwin Kubzar, winner of KPOP cover song contest 2013 and members of Elemenz, winner of Northeast KPOP Cover Song 2014, informed Setolü Veswüh, event manager of KPOP Dream Team.
Theja Meru will grace the event as special guest, while an artiste from Manipur and upcoming singer Jano Nyekha will be making special appearance on the stage.
