Kohima, Sep. 1 (EMN): Deputy commissioner of Kohima informed that the odd and even system of vehicular movement including private and public transport such as taxi and city bus would continue within the municipal jurisdiction except on Sundays till September 30.
The DC Kohima has issued an order under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
According to the order, vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbered (1, 3, 5 and 7) would be allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (2,4,6 and 8) would be allowed to ply on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
However, the order stated that the prohibition and restriction of movement of vehicles would not apply to the press and two wheelers (without pillion rider); vehicles carrying emergency medical equipments, essential commodities, LPG cylinders and oil tankers; and inter-state trucks carrying essential commodities bound for the state of Manipur.
The order also cautioned that violation of the restriction order would be penalised under Section 177 and 179 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
