KOHIMA, JUNE 23: Some unruly miscreants have ruined the paintings and smashed the paint bucket on the footbridge above Mezhur Higher Secondary School, where the Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo CARE (KABA CARE) has undertaken the voluntary beautification project in Kohima.
However, the damage has been painstakingly repainted by the volunteers without any grudge and resentment towards any.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Kovi Meyase, Administrator, Kohima Municipal Council said they were very discouraged when the misdeed was first detected. Nevertheless, he said, it will continue to do what is beneficial to the public inspite of what has happened. He also said that FIR has been lodged at South Police Station as a deterrent measure for such kinds of misdemeanors in the future.
It may be mentioned that ever since it was launched last year, KABA CARE has been engaged with eco-friendly activities to create mass awareness through public participation to restore the environment and to make Kohima cleaner, environmentally greener and healthier.
“Its latest activity is the ongoing beautification of the four pedestrian footbridges in Kohima with the support of Kohima Municipal Council on varied themes such as academics, nature, music, tradition and vegetation.
However, it is very discouraging that instead of contributing towards the benefit and welfare of the society, some people don’t have any respect for the good works done by others, and are intent on destroying and damaging things.
As concerned and responsible citizens of the state, everyone should have a civic sense, respect public properties, and appreciate any individuals, groups or societies contributing for the welfare of the society.”
