Dimapur, Feb. 19 (EMN): A signature campaign for ‘clean’ election, informed and ethical voting, was conducted on Feb. 19 in the District Planing Development Board (DPDB) hall in Kohima with district SVEEP representatives and public leaders.
The district election officer (DEO) of Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan said ethical voting was a collective responsibility of the people to ensure free and peaceful elections as the Nagaland goes to the forthcoming state assembly elections.
GBs and public leaders have been urged to spread the message to their respective ward, colony and village ‘to bring about changes’ in the electoral process. The officer also sought their support and cooperation for successful and peaceful election.
Kohima district’s SVEEP icon Esther Natso said during the event that the Election department, in collaboration with other government departments, media, and NGOs over the years, had been actively campaigning to achieve the goals participation through registration, qualitative participation, informed and ethical voting, and to provide continuous electoral and democracy education to the people. She urged the gathering to stand for ‘clean’ elections for a ‘better and changed Nagaland.’
Speaking on about Kohima’s SVEEP anthem was district public relations officer of Kohima Ruopfulenuo Houzha. The officer talked about the launch of Kohima district’s SVEEP anthem, among others. The idea to launching the SVEEP campaign was to spread information about the electoral process and ‘clean elections’ for the coming assembly polls, she informed.
The district’s SVEEP election anthem was composed in Tenyidie and Nagamese by local singer Methaneilie with the aim to reach out to all the candidates and voters to adopt ethical principles.
Representatives from wards and colonies at 9th Kohima town and 10th Northern Angami-I assembly constituencies led by the DEO and district SVEEP icon participated in the signature campaign.
