The newspaper report about Kohima Smart city is disheartening. All the people of nagaland were well impressed by the wide publicity and press releases by Dr Maongwati IAS Secretary Municipal Affairs Department. First he told the people of Nagaland that Kohima is in the 20 select list .However when the list was was published on 29 January,2016 Kohima was not there. When contacted him it was informed that the Central Ministry people manipulated and deleted Kohima and replaced by Guwahati. However best assured that we are in the fast track and sure to come up in the second list People accepted the defeat and waited patiently to see that Kohima is in the second list. May be to include Kohima in the second list Dr Maongwati IAS Secretary Municipal Affairs Department spent 20 days in Delhi from May 6 to May 24, 2016. When the second list was announced alas Kohima was not selected and only Imphal was there. This time he had no excuse to blame the Central Ministry and quietly accepted his failure. It is not so easy for a state like Nagaland to compete with other advanced states. Nevertheless Dr Maongwati IAS Secretary MAD took it so easy and announce false promise that Kohima will be in the list. The Secretary Municipal Affairs Department has been advised by many senior officials not to be too smart while trying to bring smart city to Kohima. It all shows that the Secretary MAD had no experience how to work with the Central Ministry and work hard for the Smart city to get more points and qualify. This is his failure and brought shame to the people of Nagaland. If at the end of the day Kohima is selected,it will be on the mercy of the Central government and Kohima being State Capital and not on his effort. He should accept his failure and humble himself and learn not to make too much publicity with empty promises which will attract unwanted situation Yours sincerely, V. Sekhose Koima.
