- DIMAPUR — Kohima
Science College, Jotsoma, (KSCJ) on Saturday hosted the 4th Origin Fest,
celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Nagaland, on the theme ‘Tapestry of
rraditions.’
- An update from the college stated that the programme began
with an invocation prayer said by Vekrulu Nakro, followed by a soulful
performance by Azeno Nakhro.
- The college’s principal, Dr. Temjenwabang, welcomed the
gathering and highlighted the significance of Origin Fest, emphasising its role
in preserving and celebrating traditional values. He also expressed gratitude
to the organising committee, faculty members and students for their dedication
in making the event a success.
- The college also honoured its students who have excelled in
various beauty pageants at state and national levels. They are Yanchibeni Y
Ezung, Miss Mega Model 2nd Runners-Up 2024, Miss Queen of Universe 1st
Runners-Up 2024; Sometnaro Chang, Miss Chang 2023, Exotic Model Runners-Up
2024, Miss Grandiose Northeast 2024; Anon Konyak, Miss Fresher KSCJ 2024, Miss
Kohima 1st Runners-Up 2024, Miss Nagaland 2024; and Kelhule Nag, Miss Mega
Model 2024, Miss Queen of Universe Ambassador 2024.
- MLA and chairman of Tseminyu DPDB, Jwenga Seb, 1995 batch
alumnus of the college, was the chief guest of the programme. He praised the
institution for its legacy of academic excellence and the role it plays in
shaping future leaders.
- He encouraged the students to embrace education, uphold
strong moral values and seize opportunities beyond conventional career paths.
- A key highlight of the event was an experience-sharing
session by Anon Konyak, who spoke about her journey to becoming Miss Nagaland.
- The audience was captivated by a skit titled “The bamboo
girl,” a meaningful message about the importance of nature and tradition,
performed by the Drama Club, while the college choir made a musical
performance.
