Dimapur, November 27 : The Kohima district authorities have issued a fresh set of traffic regulations to evade the annual winter festive rush in the capital town. The district administration issued a press release on Sunday outlining a number of traffic regulations to regulate traffic movements at specific routes.
“In view of the Hornbill Festival and the Christmas festive season, heavy vehicular traffic is anticipated resulting to heavy traffic jams,” the press release stated. The district administration has advised ‘strict compliance in the interest of the public.’
The administration had cautioned against “random parking of vehicles on the main road and narrow peripheral circular roads.” Random parking should be strictly avoided from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, to ensure free movement of two-way traffic along the following routes:
NH-2 (Paramedical-Kisama) and NH-62 (TCP point-IG Stadium)
Hospital-Tinpati-DBS-New Sectt.-GHS junction
Bayavu Circular road
Kenuozou-Mission Compound-Razhu point
Razhu point-Seikhazou-DBS junction
Mohonkhola-AG-Chandmari-Mezhur road
Chandmari-PWD junction / Porterlane Circular road
PHQ junction-Science College / Paramedical-NH-2
Old Ministers Hill-New Ministers Hill-NH-2 via South PS
Mohonkhola & BOC-New / Old Ministers Hill junction
LFHSS-Police Reserve and Classic junction-TCP point via Ladies Mile road
The district administration has also cautioned that all ‘off-road’ vehicles parked along public roads will be removed ‘immediately as per standing order.’
‘...Traffic regulations should be strictly complied with and further advised the public to take peripheral diversion roads in order to avoid severe traffic jams on the main road,” the administration added.
