Dimapur, Jan. 20: The Kohima Press Club observed their 16th Foundation Day on January 20 at the KPC conference hall in Kohima town.
Speaking during the occasion, KPC’s President Xavier Rutsa said “16 years was not long period of time, but from here we continue to look forward”.
Heralding a new chapter for the local press community in Nagaland, a few journalists initiated the formation of the KPC on 20th January, 2001. He opined that the KPC was the “oldest club in the state” and one which had been “pioneering in leading the fourth estate to a greater height,” a DIPR report stated in an update on Friday.
Rutsa also expressed happiness that over the past 16 years, the KPC had offered commendable yeoman service to the society. The organization is able to stand on its feet and “well recognized amongst the society, with a humble beginning with handful of members.” The KPC has 46 registered members, working both in the print and electronic media.
The speaker also acknowledged the pioneers and all the members for their active support and cooperation to the organization during all occasions. He encouraged the members to rededicate their selves to serving the society and to continue to uphold the “ethics of journalism.”
