Police authorities of Kohima district have found two vehicles they said were stolen on separate occasions. The authorities have arrested two persons in connection with the two cases, the police said in a press release issued to the media on Wednesday, December 9.
On December 9, Kohima police manning the Phesama check gate stopped a truck bearing the registration number AS-21-9301. The driver of the vehicle was detained as he could not produce any vehicle documents, the police said.
“During preliminary enquiry the chassis number engraved in the vehicle did not tally with the report from Transport Vahan Database,” the police stated in the press release.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as one Angom Mangijao Singh, a 25-year old man from Khur Khul Makhaleikai village in West Imphal of Manipur. He has been taken into police custody.
In a similar incident, this one on December 8, Kohima police manning Phesama check gate stopped a Tata Mobile ‘on suspicion.’ The vehicle bore the registration number NL-01A-6038.
“On physical verification of the vehicle the chassis number engraved in the vehicle did not tally with that in the vehicle documents and the report of Transport Vahan Database. The driver of the vehicle identified as Kolo Chalai (34 yrs) S/o – Ashiho, Village – Emesiiphro, PS – Senapati, Manipur, P/Add – Emesiiphro was taken into police custody,” the police stated in the press release.
“In this connection, a regular case vide Kohima South P.S Case No. 0127/2015 U/S 471 IPC is registered against him for conducting further investigation,” the Kohima police added.
