The District Executive Force of Kohima has registered a total number of 352 cognizable cases in 2015. Of the total cases, 161 are reported cases while 191 are of self detected (suo-motu) cases by the district police, according to a report made available to media houses by the Kohima police.
The report said that out of the total number of cases registered, 290 are chargesheeted, final reports have been done for 31 of them while another 31 are pending with investigation.
Top 6 cases of the 191 suo-motu cases (self detected cases)
1. Recovery of 56 stolen vehicles worth about Rs 2.79 crores (inclusive of 25 vehicles reported stolen from other States)
2. Seizure of 6708 kgs of contraband ganja worth about Rs 3 crores in the national market and 900 grams of opium worth Rs. 27,000 in the national market.
3. Seizure of various brands of IMFL comprising of 36,847 bottles of various categories worth about Rs. 75 lakhs in the local market.
4.Seizure of 1900 kgs of Gensing without valid permit and transit pass worth Rs. 57 lakhs in the local market.
5.Seizure of various types of banned cough syrup and drugs worth Rs. 25, 70, 300 in the street market.
(i) 3705 bottles (Approx) consisting of Roncodex, Codectuss and Phenyrex banned cough syrup /drugs.
(ii) 2, 20, 693 nos. of Spasmo Proxyvon and Nitrosun capsules.
6. Seizure of 18 kilograms of endangered Pangolin scales worth Rs. 12, 03, 758 in the national market.
Meanwhile, the police report said that altogether 499 persons were arrested and out of which 466 were males while 33 were females. The report also said that a total of 6 juveniles were arrested in the year 2015 under various case connections. The police report further said the total number of cases registered against women is 50 out of which 24 are crime against women and 26 are crimes committed by women. The police report then mentioned that a total of 252 ILP defaulters were arrested in 2015 and were booked under section 3 and 4 of BEFR Act.
