KOHIMA — Kohima Police apprehended a driver and seized a vehicle in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Lower Jail colony, Kohima.
In an update on Saturday, Kohima Police informed that based on information circulating in the public domain, a team was immediately tasked to investigate the matter. The driver involved has been identified, apprehended, and the vehicle seized.
The apprehended driver allegedly ran over a person, injuring her right leg, and drove away without stopping.
No formal complaint was filed by the affected family, according to police.
Unidentified boy recovered
In a separate statement, Kohima Police informed that on Saturday at around 10:10 am, the body of an unidentified male was recovered from the area below the KMC dumping site, between Dzürüzou (T-Khel) and Meriema village.

The body was found unclothed and is in a state of advanced decomposition, rendering visual identification futile.
According to police, key identifying features observed include an old surgical scar on the abdomen, running vertically from the navel towards the chest, and a sacred red thread (Kalava) tied on the right wrist, suggesting the individual may have been a Hindu. The body is that of a male of average build, approximately 5 feet 6 inches in height.
After completing requisite legal formalities, the body has been preserved at the North Police Station morgue pending identification.
Police have appealed to any member of the public, particularly individuals with missing relatives or friends, non-local organisations, or community leaders who have information about a missing person matching the description, to come forward and contact the officer-in-charge, North Police Station, at 7005986018.
